I asked the LDLC specialists for their opinion ..... 4 months after purchasing the numeric keypad has already broken down. I had to add a mouse because I couldn't separate myself from my computer, which is a work computer.
The product meets my criteria. It responds quickly, even with several applications open. It's easy to get to grips with.
Despite a small recognition problem when installing a Pro sound card, the driver was a bit old, but this has now been resolved,
Nothing to complain about, smooth PC, but beware of the Norton anti-virus monopolise imposed by the manufacturer, which is difficult to remove, it's really tough.
Thank you to the LDLC Thionville team for their advice and the solutions they offer according to customers' needs.
I was looking for an affordable laptop with the following criteria: 16GB RAM minimum and a USB-C port, for use mainly for coding / software development as well as internet entertainment (I'm not much of a gamer). I'm a regular ASUS customer, but it was hard to find anything under 800 euros with these two criteria. When I widened my search to ACER, I found this product that seemed to suit me perfectly, so I didn't hesitate.
First impressions after 2 days of use: very positive. Simple, modern design. The battery life is very good, easily 7-8 hours with intensive use, the 11 hours indicated can be reached without any problem with more moderate use. Just beware of the 0 key on the numpad, which is smaller than on a conventional numpad, so I tend to press the decimal point by mistake, but that's just a little getting used to. The screen is of good quality with good contrast, but it's not very bright, so it's not suitable for outdoor use on a sunny day. Performance-wise, there's nothing to say, it handles multitasking and CPU and RAM-hungry programs very well, so I couldn't ask for more.
Conclusion: if you're not a gamer and only plan to use it indoors, I'd definitely recommend it at this price.
Bonus: it's actually possible to charge it via the USB-C port, contrary to what's stated on the specification sheet.
