You're in the dark, you'll have no backlit numbers, just punctuation.... for this price is nonsense back to LDLC!!!!
First of all, I had to return a brand new 1st unit under warranty, as it didn't work with the RF link.
The second one I received makes me regret not having used my right of withdrawal.
The RF connection was pretty awful, working only at (very) short distances.
I had to connect the dongle to the top of my box. Plugged in at the back, I had too many problems.
It can sometimes go haywire: spontaneous repetitions and keystrokes, sometimes to the point of rebooting the PC!
The exaggeratedly fine engraving on the keys makes them unreadable without backlighting, even in broad daylight.
And even with the backlight on, you'd better know the key functions by heart.
Because they are only partially backlit.
To distinguish between the Shift and Alt functions, you'll need a headlamp!
It's hard to get out of standby (3 or 4 keystrokes are needed) and sometimes hard to get in.
It's not uncommon for the backlight to still be active 1/4 hour after the PC has been used or even switched off.
To make up for this inconvenience, I once used the ridiculous little switch on the back of the keyboard to turn it off.
But it started to make false contacts and I no longer touch it so as not to end up with an unusable keyboard.
So much for the impact on battery life (3-4 days for daily use of 4 hours maximum).
Battery life is a bit tricky to measure, as you often have to go over it several times before you get the same result twice.
All this for the modest sum of 250 €!
I don't use its gaming capabilities (backlight customisation, profiles or whatever). No Razer software installed.
I was just looking for a wireless backlit keyboard with more robust keys than the far too fragile ones on my previous Logitech K800s (which I also liked).
That's how I came across this 'thing'.
I hope at least that on this point it will hold up.
Keyboard with some good ideas but full of flaws that spoil the experience. Bought at 220 euros, I regret my purchase a little ...
To sum up, on the positive side :
+ Very nice keyboard, quite sober for a "gamer" product
+ quite a few basic profiles for modifying the LEDs without using the razer software
+ very responsive gaming-style keystrokes (switch red)
+ hotswappable with adapted low-profile switches (keychron)
+ for a full-size keyboard, it's not a huge size
+ a battery that holds up well in terms of autonomy
+ fairly permissive macros: apart from a few function keys, you can make quite a few combinations
On the negative side :
- coil wine, a recurring problem with this model of keyboard (see other reviews on other sites), very unpleasant without closed headphones, the only solution is to reduce the brightness of the LEDs to 20%. At 100% white, it's unbearable.
- text on the keys unreadable without the RGB switched on, particularly annoying if there's a lot of light in the room
- ABS keys: at 250 euros for a keyboard, it doesn't matter what coating you put on the keys, it's a no-brainer.
- the gaming-style typing is double-edged, as typing is very reactive and mistakes happen quickly, which is accentuated by the low-profile nature of the keyboard
- the keys are 'soft' compared with standard mechanical switches (cherry red type) when you press the key all the way down.
- PITOYABLE razer software. Comparable to malware, with tons of services running in the background when you install the software, and even when you disable it at start-up!
- The RGB settings, apart from the ultra-basic profiles (e.g. fixed light, rainbow) cannot be saved on the keyboard. Only macros can be recorded directly on the keyboard.
- I personally have a problem where settings using the RGB function key no longer work, I think because of the software.
In the same universe: razer keybord
