Excellent for mixed office/gaming use
I was looking for a versatile, high performance laptop that wasn't too expensive and, after much hesitation and comparison, I don't regret my choice.
With 16GB on a powerful i7 processor and a 1TB SSD, to which I added a second 2TB SSD (thanks to Acer for producing a well-illustrated manual to explain how to open and change the major parts of the machine), the result is an immediate launch and a very promising speed of execution (even if I have not yet tested video editing). The 2560 x 1440 screen with a smaller than recommended scale allows for a comfortable working display. In the least power-consuming functions, it is perfectly silent. In short, it looks like a large, medium-thick 17.3" notebook.
I regret that the keyboard does not have the direct "Start" and "End" keys, instead of "Insert", which I never use, and a "Predator" key that launches a configuration utility. On the other hand, being able to assign a different light to each key is interesting, not for games (I use a joystick) or to impress the neighbours with Christmas tree effects (that's hardly serious in a departmental meeting...), but to distinguish at first glance, especially in the dark, the character keys from the function keys that surround them.
When it comes to playing demanding games in busy open worlds with very high graphics settings, the RTX 3070 Ti graphics card and the 165 Hz G-Sync display come into play and it's a treat! The ventilation works well too, but with the right stand and noise-cancelling headphones, it's not a problem.
So it's an excellent all-rounder, neither a frail compromise nor a top-of-the-range machine at €4000.
I'm surprised that such a well thought-out model is not as well known and appreciated as it deserves to be.
