Very good HDD, never disappointed with SanDisk.

I was looking for a good big HDD with good value for money, combining performance and security, and this one suited me perfectly. The rubber that surrounds the HDD prevents damage to the internal components when the mechanical parts are rotated, as they are subject to vibration. What's more, the L/E speeds are largely correct (90-100MB/s on average compared with a theoretical speed of 130MB/s). However, HDD formatting on Windows is rather complex if you're not familiar with it, as basic formatting is not available and full formatting is required via the Disk Manager. Finally, there may be some data read/write problems due to the potential overheating of the HDD when transferring large files (of the order of 100GB or more), which can be quite annoying in the long term.

Does the job ... when it falls!

It's quite a thick disk, twice as thick as another external HDD of the same capacity (5Mb).
It is obviously a protective shell on top of a disk. This shell is surrounded by a soft and rather enveloping rubbery rim.

The accesses are resealable with a tab and rubber pad, for a very plausible seal. At least ... if you don't leave the usb cable connected like me.

Note that this is not a fast drive (5400), and especially that you have to reformat it completely if - like me - used in a Windows OS. The classic reformatting via the Windows interface did not completely use the whole HDD as I wanted and kept 1 small partition inaccessible: I used the free DiskGenius utility to format (and recheck) 100% of the disk (not a fast format), which took 28 hours.

I could appreciate its solidity when I came down from the mezzanine holding the box in one hand, with the laundry basket in the other (never overdo it, it's bad for your health!) ... and saw the disk fall down the stairs, because I was holding the box upside down! It practically bounced like a squash ball: not with high jumps but with muffled shocks and absorbed energy. In the end, ras: the slow formatting with sectors checked 1 by 1 gave 100%!
    It did the job.
