Used as a big usb stick, I don't ask more from this ssd m2 installed in an external case. It's Western Digital so it's very good and I have no worries about its reliability.
Western Digital's 480GB Green SSD transforms your PC with faster load times and lower latency. The WD Green features an M.2 SATA 6Gb/s interface, SLC caching and has a 1 million hour MTBF.
The WD Green 480GB SSD (WDS480G2G0B) M.2 SATA 6Gb/s gives your machine a second life with read speeds of up to 545MB/s and read operations per second of 68,000 IOPS (4KB QD32).
Enhance the performance of your laptop or desktop with WD Green SSD and speed up your daily computing tasks. Single-Level Cell (SLC) caching technology improves the write performance of WD Green SSD when you're surfing the web, playing your favorite games, or simply booting up your computer with a snap of your fingers.
WD Green SSDs are designed to be lightweight and rugged to prevent data loss in the event of a shock or accidental drop. Every WD Green SSD is tested by the F.I.T. Lab (Functional Integrity Testing Labs) to ensure it meets WD's highest standards for digital storage. With no removable parts, the WD Green SSD gives you reliable storage that can withstand the normal wear and tear of years of aging.
Western Digital's free downloadable SSD Dashboard provides multiple tools for continuous monitoring of your SSD's status. Available free of charge, the Western Digital SSD Dashboard gives you access to information such as drive model, firmware version, S.M.A.R.T. attributes, or simply lets you know how much space is left on your WD Green SSD.

New motherboard, new power supply, new RAM, and this SSD thing is not recognized!
Can't install Win 10 PRO!

This M2 SATA SSD is perfect for upgrading an ultraportable PC that is a few years old. It easily doubles the storage capacity of the machine and offers the same performance as the old SSD.
A good product that I recommend!
The SLC memory type is the most robust with 50,000 nominal program-erase (P/E) cycles, compared to about 5,000 for MLC NAND flash memory and 1,500 for TLC. For 3D NAND, see the specifications. So I set up the WD drive as a boot/system drive, a second M.2 SSD (MLC) as a system backup drive (system cloning with Macrium Reflect) and I keep a classic Toshiba 7200 tm drive for data.
The installation of M.2 SATA or NVMe SSDs is very simple. Provide a good quality Arctic thermal pad, and if you take a 1.5mm thickness, slightly longer mounting screws for the aluminium heatsink, if you have one above the drives.
I am under Linux, I formatted the disk in EXT4.
I tested the performance of the disk with gnome-disk-utility.
The result given in reading is 488,3 Mb/s.
The read speed is very close to that given by the manufacturer (up to 545 MB/s in read mode), which is remarkable.
The write speed is 378.2 MB/s,
The average access time is 5.27 ms
