The Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 PCIe 3.0 4x NVMe 1.3 in its 250GB version takes your PC to another level of performance with speeds of up to 3.5GB/s read and 2.3GB/s write and features a 512MB LPDDR4 cache
250 GB M.2 NVMe 1.3 SSD - PCIe 3.0 x4
The Samsung 970 EVO Plus 250GB SSD can transform the performance and responsiveness of your machine. The Samsung 970 EVO Plus in M.2 2280 format is based on the PCI-E 3.0 x4 interface and NVMe 1.3 technology and is equipped with TLC memory, a Samsung Phoenix controller and 512 MB of LPDDR4 cache memory.
The Samsung 970 EVO Plus M.2 PCIe 3.0 4x NVMe 1.3 in its 250 GB version takes your PC to another level of performance with speeds of up to 3.5 GB/s read and 3.2 GB/s write. The number of operations per second reaches an impressive 370,000 read IOPS and 450,000 write IOPS (4KB, QD32), enough to run your applications without latency.
With the 970 EVO Plus series you assemble a configuration for ultimate performance in an M.2 type 2280 drive. Thanks to firmware optimisations and Intelligent TurboWrite technology, it offers speeds of up to 3500MB/s read and 3300MB/s write, which is 53% faster depending on the model.
The 970 EVO Plus series features a PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 interface, in-house 3-bit V-NAND and an enhanced Phoenix controller. The drive can achieve speeds of up to 3,500MB/s read and up to 3,300MB/s write without fail (depending on the model) for faster boot times and faster transfers.
Samsung's 970 EVO Plus SSDs set a new standard in endurance with Samsung's 3-bit V-NAND memory chips. The 250GB version offers 150TB of writing capacity, while the 2TB version reaches 1200TB. These SSDs are therefore ideal for boosting your application start-up and access times and for handling large files from an editing station.
Samsung Magician software is designed to help you manage your SSD through a simple and intuitive user interface. Receive notifications when new firmware is released and easily install updates to improve the performance, stability and compatibility of your SSD. Check your SSD's read and write speeds and maintain the highest performance. Select your security options to protect your data.

LDLC on top as usual
small format, small capacity, but top performance, beats any 2.5" SSD by a mile!
After 2 years of use, I'm still very happy to have installed my OS. Fast access, just as I'd hoped!
However, despite an updated bios, I was unable to connect this drive to the CM's 1st port (ref. below).
Connected to the 2nd port, it was immediately recognised.
Since the problem was with the CM, I'll give it a well-deserved 5 stars.
My configuration :
- ASRock B560 Pro4
- Intel Core i5-10400F (2.9 GHz / 4.3 GHz)
- Textorm 16 GB (2x 8 GB) DDR4 3200 MHz CL16
- ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce® GTX 1650 OC GDDR6 4 GB
- Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus M.2 PCIe NVMe 250 GB
- be quiet! Pure Loop 240 mm
- Fox Spirit GT-650P V2 80PLUS Platinum
Nothing to complain about, both the hardware and the LDLC service (bought in shop in Villefranche sur Saône).
Added to an Intel barebone, the PC boots up in a matter of seconds, which really makes a big difference compared to an HDD or even a SATA SSD. Samsung has nothing to prove in this area either, and their SSDs are pretty reliable.
The Samsung SSD 970 EVO Plus M.2 PCIe NVMe 250GB is an excellent choice for users looking for a fast and reliable storage drive. It's ideal for desktops, laptops and games consoles. I bought it so that I could install games on it and everything obviously works perfectly, a little expensive but it is possible to find an equivalent for slightly less (for beginners obviously there are no cables included, just the SSD).
