Amazing efficiency with excellent value for money!
I did some research and I really read everything and its opposite: you need spikes and also that you don't need spikes, you need metal on speaker and metal on stand without interface and also that you need rubber and felt, spikes are for coupling but also for decoupling, spikes are necessary and also that spikes are useless.... so I had a big doubt to solve the problem of my (big) Polk R200 bookshelf speakers placed on a big wooden sideboard... and I didn't know where to turn...
I wanted to isolate them from their stand to limit vibrations and resonances as much as possible, so considering the relatively low price of this set of 4 spikes with counter spikes, I thought that I wouldn't risk much to test them since the tiny rubber feet of the manufacturer didn't suit me well.
I mounted 4 spikes per speaker glued (inside) flush with the original feet of my Polk with the excellent
3M double sided tape, a drop of threadlocker on the thread of each spike and the felt provided glued under the counter spikes.
The result is amazing, almost against all expectations: the sound is warmer, cleaner and more powerful, the bass is deep and reinforced with a surprising relief, the treble is very pure (but it was already pure in the beginning).
The spikes are easy to mount, the double-sided material is of great quality, so I can only recommend them: they isolate my speakers perfectly from the cabinet (itself mounted on a felt plate under each stand).
The icing on the cake: the spikes (shiny black-anthracite metal) are beautiful and give a professional style that raises the look of the speakers (my Polk being very sober in terms of design). I don't care about the style, I prefer by far the sound, but this little detail flatters the eye a little and I don't mind ;)
Highly recommended article!
