A great little camera for great pictures (even if not everything is perfect)
My wife and I really enjoyed the G11, G12 and G1X mark I (much less the G16).
With this G1X mark III, it's the best of both worlds:
. the benefit of an APS sensor
. the (fundamental) return of the screen on a swivel
. a reduced size compared to the G1X mark I
The great satisfactions :
. quality of the obtained photos (good sharpness, limited optical distortions)
. quality of the jpg processing (for the first time on a Canon Gxx, we store in RAW+jpg and not only in RAW)
. perceived quality of the camera
. touch screen
. viewfinder
. connectivity, for transfer to a smartphone
. ergonomics of handling the camera
Regrets :
. the zoom range has been further reduced
. many times, in Program mode, when it was obvious that I was shooting a portrait (with the subject well in the centre = simplest case), the camera inexplicably chose to focus on the background
. it was difficult to find an accessory case that would fit the size and shape of the camera, to protect it properly from shocks, without making it obese, and to be compatible with the lens cap and strap straps
