The device means I don't have to buy another screen for a secondary display. I can reuse a VGA screen that was given to me on my graphics card, which only outputs HDMI and DisplayPort. I use the VGA port and the image is perfectly satisfactory for word processing/office automation or video viewing.
Very good adapter. Two small points to watch out for: the cable is a bit short and might dangle, and the adapter has a slight latency when starting up.

This little accessory is very handy for my old asus VGA screen.
It's a shame that it doesn't have a cable like some usb wifi dongle (semi rigid cable).

Perfect for connecting my old Asus vh222 (picture quality as on day one) 1920x1080 in vga to the display port of the ASUS GeForce GTX 1050 Ti 4GB graphics card.
I'm nibbling one star for its cable being too short, the case hangs down and I don't like the fact that it pulls on the cg plug, so I had to put it up high on a home made stand, when I would have liked to: either put it on the floor or on the desk, or be able to tape it to one side of the pc tower.
