Beautiful material, high quality of manufacture (to be seen in time)
A camera that inspires confidence. It is finally quite accessible even for advanced beginners. You can either use it directly with the factory settings or, if you are a bit more passionate, like me, you can program your own settings quite easily; especially since there are good video tutorials posted on the web for those who would like to improve the possibilities and the quality of their shots. The GH5 is often recommended for video and in this area it is undoubtedly a champion. But it's not bad for photography either. Of course, with a 4/3 sensor, in low light you have to be careful with the settings to get the best out of it. But it is still very good. I had a Canon 60D that lived well, bit the dust and braved the weather, and with this Gh5 I didn't expect this impressive quality. Double kudos to Lumix for listening to their customers, upgrading their cameras. Sony is a direct competitor with their A7III (full frame sensor that I was able to try) but it's too expensive, European customer service is poor, and their lenses are prohibitively expensive and HEAVY!
On LDLC the Gh5 is sold at a good price but lack of choice of lens when ordering. I only took the 12/60 mmm Leica. Too late to take advantage of the 150€ discount on the 750€ camera depending on the number of lenses. However, LDLC offers a Manfrotto backpack with the camera. It complements and protects effectively (thanks to its anti-dust and anti-rain hood). The bag is very well made. The bag is very well made, solid and practical to store all your camera equipment but also to carry your picnic and some accessories for the hike.
The Gh5's transport box was quite badly damaged and ripped open. A little extra protection for this kind of fragile equipment would not be a luxury.
Thanks to LDLC for the backpack offer (in addition) which made the difference for me.
