Overview

The PATA2SATA3 is a bi-directional SATA IDE adapter/converter that allows you to connect a serial ATA drive to a serial IDE port or an IDE drive to a SATA motherboard port. This cost-effective solution allows you to upgrade existing IDE systems to support SATA hard drives or optical drives. The SATA/IDE adapter saves the cost of purchasing a controller card while eliminating the need to install the expansion slot required for card installation.

In addition to installing the SATA hard drive, the adapter is backward compatible and allows the connection of older IDE drives to a newer SATA compatible motherboard, making it easier to recover files stored on an older system.

Perfect for accessing an old hard drive

The adapter is very easy to use for connecting an IDE peripheral to a SATA socket. No need to manage the master/slave jumper. It works well with a hard drive but not with a DVD burner, which is invisible to the bios.

    Don't walk!

I wanted to use an old optical drive that doesn't have SATA connectivity, well it doesn't work. I can't see the drive. The manual is very short and I couldn't find any help on the internet. I have not tested it with an IDE HDD.

OK on DD but not on DVD

I originally wanted to use it on a DVD drive to connect to a motherboard that only has SATA ports but the DVD drive is not seen as such.
I put it on an old hard drive to connect it to my SATA motherboard and no problem.

does not work in my case

I don't put zero because I may have fallen on the wrong side of the tracks, but in any case the product doesn't work. I changed my motherboard and I thought I would save myself the purchase of a DVD player. Disappointing.
