The PATA2SATA3 is a bi-directional SATA IDE adapter/converter that allows you to connect a serial ATA drive to a serial IDE port or an IDE drive to a SATA motherboard port. This cost-effective solution allows you to upgrade existing IDE systems to support SATA hard drives or optical drives. The adapter is very easy to use for connecting an IDE peripheral to a SATA socket. No need to manage the master/slave jumper. It works well with a hard drive but not with a DVD burner, which is invisible to the bios.
Bought to connect old hard drives, I was able to access the data on my tower PC perfectly.
I wanted to use an old optical drive that doesn't have SATA connectivity, well it doesn't work. I can't see the drive. The manual is very short and I couldn't find any help on the internet. I have not tested it with an IDE HDD.
I originally wanted to use it on a DVD drive to connect to a motherboard that only has SATA ports but the DVD drive is not seen as such.
I put it on an old hard drive to connect it to my SATA motherboard and no problem.
I don't put zero because I may have fallen on the wrong side of the tracks, but in any case the product doesn't work. I changed my motherboard and I thought I would save myself the purchase of a DVD player. Disappointing.
