Installed to boost a DS713+. This RAM is 100% compatible, my server is young again.
A nice youthful touch for a 13 year old P Bell, with 8GB of RAM, it will last another 13 years!!! :)
Installed in a 2010 unibody Macbook running High Sierra, I was worried about compatibility so I only ordered one (which gives me 5GB in my machine at the moment). Finally everything works fine. It's also reassuring to have a recognized brand such as G.Skill.
Apart from that, I had forgotten how much the addition of Ram could change the behaviour of a machine, being used to having more than enough on my desktop. With its original 2GB the Macbook was doing its job, but clearly... it was suffering. Now it's operational after booting up more quickly, you can finally open multiple applications without having to wait for ages, it's simply more efficient. It's my entry point into the Mac world and I must say that the software optimization is just remarkable because even with 2g it wasn't unusable, just not reactive enough, but if I compare it with even a Windows Seven running on 2g, I can easily see that Microsoft is lagging behind... as usual.
I'll take a second one, not because I'm running out of ram because 8g on this Macbook is useless, since it's now limited by the proco (Core 2 Duo of 2.4ghz), but because they'll work in dual-channel which can only improve its performance (and also because an odd number for memory is ugly... :D).
choice, availability, and quality of known brands. components available for older machines.
