I was looking for a mechanical keyboard with dedicated programmable keys, and Logitech is the only brand to offer this at the moment in this price range. The finish is beautiful, the keyboard responds very well, it looks good, the colours are individually assignable to each key, and the feel is pleasant when typing and for gaming. The feel is fine and very present, without being too noisy (although it's not a silent keyboard, of course).
If that's all you need, you can consider it well worth the 5 stars.
However, I'm taking away 2 stars for the following reasons:
- Like a lot of Logitech equipment (I also have a mouse and a camera from the same brand), GHub's lack of reliability is detrimental to the use of the tool: the interface isn't very pleasant to use, reacts badly, isn't clear, and can require several installations before it works properly.
- In 2024, I find it hard to accept that a keyboard costing close to 200 euros doesn't allow you to program ALL the keys through its software (GHub). Only the G1 to G5 keys are programmable, and I had no idea that this would be the case before I bought it, because it seemed so unthinkable. This keyboard replaces a Steelseries Apex (with membrane, 17 dedicated programmable keys) that I used for nearly 8 years, which was worth half as much as this G815, and which already allowed you to program the keyboard in the same way as the G815.
Even back in 2016, you could programme all the keys as you wished. I refuse to believe that Logitech isn't capable of offering this. Especially as each key can individually have its own colour (it's pretty, it's classy, yes, but not very useful).
Bought at the LDLC shop in NIORT with a very professional and pleasant team.
Keyboard works perfectly well and looks great.
Excellent keyboard, I recommend it 100%, nice, RGB, practical with its USB plug on the back. The ideal keyboard for me
The keyboard is well built, but unlike the early production versions (which you see in the reviews), the cable is not braided, which disappointed me a lot, especially considering the price. The keys wobble back and forth because of the way they are attached. And for those who wonder, the sound wheel slides without notches
I've had it for a month, the D key is already faded. I'm not sure how to set the backlight on linux. (It blinks everywhere from the start). I have to have a windows session to adjust it with the software. The software is extremely limited and annoying to use in internal keyboard memory mode.
I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use the keyboard for work or for games, but it is. The finish (apart from the keys that fade) is good.
It's not worth the price.
Very good product, nice visual. A little problem with the second function keys which are not illuminated and not necessarily very visible if you don't have your eyes on them.
A really great keyboard. It looks sober and stylish with its thin keys, and it's very comfortable to type on.
But I spent an hour struggling with Logitech's software that is supposed to do custom RGB setups and I finally gave up. This software was programmed with my feet, I can't see any other explanation. It's anything but intuitive and there's no way to memorize an animated config without letting this pathetic program run in the background. Maybe it's even intentional...
There's even a moment where you have to click on "Activate" to disable the keyboard memory. But seriously, it's really nonsense!
My first mechanical keyboard so hard to compare.
I had an old logitech y-sx49 desktop low profile membrane keyboard and I was fine with it but after 17 years it was getting tired.
I wanted a low profile backlight but the choices are limited.
I chose the G815 for its thinness and its touch-sensitive keys.
If the typing sensation is not unpleasant, I find it noisy and I like the brown keys.
My old keyboard was quieter!
The product is well finished and nice.
The aluminium plate has a bluish effect. I would have preferred something more neutral.
It's a pity that all the characters are not backlit or that on some keys you can't change the backlight colour...
At this price, it's not a joke.
The macro keys are annoying, I lose my bearings and often accidentally press the shift/ctrl or tab keys.
I think it takes a while to get used to it, I've been using the same keyboard for years and it's nothing like that.
I've been using the same keyboard for years and it's nothing like that. You know what you lose but not what you gain.
I'm still in two minds about whether to keep this keyboard or send it back.
I am not questioning its quality but at this price I should be fully satisfied with my purchase and now I sometimes regret my old keyboard.
First of all, it's important to know that I'm switching from the Logitech g19 to this nugget.
So this being my first mechanical keyboard I can't really judge the keys, I can only say that the feel is much better than a membrane keyboard.
I'm not sure if it's a good one or not, but I'm sure it's a good one, and I'm sure it's a good one.
It is therefore perfect in terms of functionality.
As for beauty, the Rgb is customizable for each key and the integrated effects are magnificent.
The multimedia keys are really good.
In short, this keyboard is perfect for me (programmer/gamer)
Note this review is also valid for its wireless version (g915). Very good keyboard, comfortable keys, even for the multi-media keys, and flat keys (something difficult to find on gamer keyboards).
I was looking for a worthy successor to my G19S which has been with me for nearly 10 years, and I found it! typing with this keyboard is a real pleasure, I would have probably preferred the clicky version but it wasn't available, so much the worse. I chose this one rather than the G915 to benefit from a USB socket close to me. I'm not complaining, my old keyboard needed a USB and... a 220v socket.) I'm taking off a small point just because the secondary functions of the keys are not backlit, and therefore not visible in the dark; you can see the signs
I'm very pleased with the quality of the product.
I'm very pleased with the quality of the keyboard. I bought it on the website with a 25% discount and it's a good deal.
I find the keyboard very nice, the keys are pleasant and not too confusing. The material reflects the quality and it is very easy to clean.
The only fault I have is the num lock key which is a white LED that cannot be changed and is very bright.
It's a good idea to have 2 well powered usb ports.
I've been using it for a while now, but it's a great product and I'm very happy with the way it works.
Excellent feel, very robust.
Small hitch: some keys are only partially illuminated,
Example: the numeric keys above the letters, only the secondary characters light up, so not the numbers, that's the least serious, the worst is for the keys , ; : ! or only light up ? . / § respectively.
I'm just quibbling for nothing, this keyboard is great!
I have been using this keyboard for 3 months now, it is beautiful, if you have the Logitech set like me, then go for it, better than the wireless one, because of the usb port, but you need 2 free usb ports, but it is a treat! It replaces my G19 that I've been using for 8 years!
This keyboard is very nice, the finish is great, delivery to the LDLC shop in record time but... among all the switches, 8 errors, some are "clicky" and others are "linear". I'm sure the trainee must have picked the wrong box during the assembly process. Very good all the same.
the best keyboard I've tried. Not noisy and so nice to use. I think I would still prefer the clicky version, but not to disturb my wife the touch is just the perfect compromise. I recommend it.
