I received the cable, I plugged it into the hard drive without difficulty but nothing works (it does not turn, no computer link). Two possibilities: the HD is definitely out of order or the cable has a defect...

This self-powered 2.0/SATA 2.5 SSD adapter does not recognize the WD 1 GB external drive. It is of no use to me. I found the right model for the external drive but not for this case. I will go to the shop to fix the problem I have with the WD external drive

I'm not sure if it's a good idea to use it with a 3.5" HDD, but it's a good idea to use a second plug that doesn't come from the same internal port, otherwise you might have a power supply problem ;-)

Well... my new cloned SSD won't boot and bluescreen in chains... but it's not from the cable, even a windows installation from CD fails, so I'll go back...

I have used this product to recover data from an old hard drive in my laptop that had failed. Now I use this adapter to convert the old drive into an external drive (at a much lower price than what is sold in stores). I just bought an enclosure, so for less than 20 euros and with an old drive, I have an external drive that works very well.
I bought this cable to recover data from a WD 1.5TB internal hard drive but when I plug it in nothing happens, yet the LEDs on the cable light up.
Should I use another method?
In my case this cable is useless.
My Toshiba satellite laptop died not long ago and thanks to this adapter I was able to recover my unsaved data. My daughter also broke a Touro external hard drive end cap and thanks to the adapter I was able to continue using it by removing it from its case.
So a word of advice: always have a copy of your stuff and never leave it within reach of children!

Bought to change my aging laptop HDD.
No particular worries, cheap and efficient.
Not tried on SSD but no reason to doubt.
Nothing else to say (that's a long 200 characters minimum for such a product).
My laptop was out of order (motherboard out of order) so I couldn't turn it on and all my important files were unrecoverable without this very efficient little plug! As soon as I plugged it in, I was able to download all my files to my new PC. The second USB plug was not useful for this one, but maybe another time! I recommend this product 100% and LDLC is very serious!
Great and easy to use. It's great for recovering data from your hard drive if your PC dies. You just need two USB ports next to each other to use the hardware.

It works very well and I have not had any problems with any of my drives. I've had no problems with any of my drives, no need for a driver to use this cable, it's just what I needed, with this two port you can use the same drive on two separate computers without any problems.
After a change of computer, I have 2 HDDs from the old one: 80Gb Barracuda 7200.7 from Seagate and 160Gb Western Digital 1600AAJB-22WRA0.
With this adapter - which only covers part of the contact pins - my computer does not recognize these two HDDs.
What should I do?

Doesn't provide enough power to boot the drive, despite the dual USB plug, even when plugged into an AC adapter.
With a 2.5" ok, so only good for laptop drives.
Avoid, buy a real dock, with external power supply.
This self-powered SSD 2.0/SATA 2.5 adapter does not recognize my Samsung 850 Pro 256gb SSD... So it is useless for me: 15 euros spent for nothing... I thought LDLC was testing its products before selling them... Thank you LDLC !

I have not been able to get my hard drive connected with the adapter to detect on my PC. It is impossible for me to know if it is working properly or not. Is there a special driver to install? If so where can I find it?
All in all, this adapter does its job well. It has allowed me to save many defective internal hard drives.

bought for a single use (cloning a hard drive at the end of its life. Does the job for a small price. There are two LEDs on the connector, one indicates power on and the other indicates data transfer.
It works very well, but only for hard drives with a capacity of 500GB or less. I bought 3 for 3 disks of 1TB, and well thank you, it does not work :(
The 2.5 / USB disk adapter works perfectly and is easy to use, be careful when buying as it can only read 2.5 format hard disks and not 3.5.
Ideal for recovering data from an old disk.

I tested it with several disks previously checked in SATA direct: worked perfectly with my two 2"1/2 disks but with NONE of the 3"1/2 disks I tested it with. Maybe they are too old so power consumption problem?
