TUF is not ROG
Attention: Although the notebook is sold under the designation ASUS "ROG Studio" 17 PX707ZM-HX071X, it is actually an ASUS TUF Gaming (ASUS TUF Gaming F17 FX707ZM_TUF707ZM to be precise).
This explains its much lower price.
I leave it to the specialist sites to explain the differences between the ROG and TUF ranges.
The minuses (-) :
- The plastic finish of some elements (cover in particular) evokes fragility ;
- The power supply unit heats up a lot: as a precaution I had to install a mini USB fan to cool it down.
The plus (+) :
- The computer cheerfully supports display on three screens: its built-in monitor and two other external monitors of 27 inches each (HDMI + USB-C) ;
- I mainly use this computer for Angular development. Angular CLI is very happy with the speed of execution of commands, so am I;
- I also play some games and, although they are not very recent, the graphic quality is still good (Sniper Elite V4, State of Decay 2, FarCry 5).
Overall:
This laptop, which replaces an aging desktop computer (Core-i7 from 2012), gives me full satisfaction for both my professional and private use.
