Kingston's DC1000B data centre drive is a high-performance M.2 2280 PCIe NVMe SSD that uses the PCI-Express 3.0 x4 interface. The DC1000B SSD also features 64 layers of 3D TLC NAND memory. It will show its full potential as a server boot drive by optimising the boot workload, as well as for caching and logging.
Boot disks are primarily used to boot an operating system, but many times the boot disk nowadays serves a second function: logging application data and/or configuration as a high-speed local cache disk. Therefore, the DC1000B has been designed with extra endurance (0.5 DWPD for 5 years) to handle the operating system workload, as well as the additional write workload for caching and logging data.
The DC1000B SSD is particularly suited for use in high-volume rack servers as a boot drive as well as for integration into specific systems that require a high-performance M.2 SSD with onboard power loss protection (PLP).
NVMe M.2 SSDs scale within the data centre and contribute to the efficiency of boot servers to free up front-loaded racks for data storage.
