Good overall
The first one was blocked: the device must contain a lithium battery and could not be flown at the first delivery.
I bought this recorder to replace a DMR-BWT74S of the same brand which suddenly did not receive the DTT channels and could not connect to the network, although it was wired.
The first disappointment with the DMR-UBT1EC is that there is only one network socket, one HDMI output and the two antenna sockets on the back of the device. No USB port, no audio out and digital jacks, no optical audio jack.
2nd disappointment: the device has HDCP 2.2 copy protection. All devices (TVs, amps, etc.) must have HDMI connectors (version 1.4 or 2.0) and comply with the HDCP 2.2 standard. Otherwise it's a black screen. Even Netflix content cannot be played.
I got around the problem by splitting the signals. The player is connected to the TV with HDMI (compatible), the TV is connected to the amp (not compatible) with HDMI ARC.
Everything works, but the audio CD must be played with the TV on!
Last but not least, the DTT image is coarse, with horizontal hatching. It is true that our TNT (New Caledonia) is not in full HD.
On the plus side, superb Blu ray picture, you can finally watch Netflix and record one or two TNT shows at the same time, the device is more responsive, it has kept the 3D for Blu Ray, the contents on NAS server are all read provided you have a recent format. You can forget about AVI for example.
In short, this is a good device with a very good image, but it requires that all the links in your audio-video chain are in tune.
