    excellent piqué

The sharpness is very good from the widest aperture, excellent from 2.5 (the same level as my Canon EF 85 1.4 L is usm). Too bad it doesn't go up to 50mm. On the other hand the quality of the plastic of the caps is not at the top. It weighs a lot but is not a nuisance, it is a perfect balance with my 90D. I ordered it by colissimo 48h, I finally received it in chronopost 24h, maybe because I took the pack with the 4 years warranty.

    It stings!

This lens is always with my Canon 700D. The focal length range is limited but perfect for my use (mainly family photos with close subjects). I find the sharpness very good at f/2.8 and the background blur pleasing although a bit 'flat' at this aperture. I hardly use it at larger apertures: the vignetting is quite marked at f/1.8 and my print suffers from a slight front focus which is all the more marked as the depth of field is reduced. That said, the use of the AI Servo mode coupled with the back-button focusing technique increases the rate of sharp photos from f/2.0, and the problem disappears completely from f/2.8. Overall the pictures are very nice (even with an old camera), and that's the main thing.
